The speed never came for Tom Brady — but it didn’t slow him down.

Brady’s alma mater — Serra High School in San Mateo, Calif., — shared a clip of a then-17-year-old quarterback being interviewed by San Francisco’s KPIX-TV. Serra high’s Twitter feed described the video as "possibly Tom Brady’s first ever media interview in the summer of 1994."

In the segment — hyping the young Brady as one of the top six QBs in The Golden State — former Chargers legend Dan Fouts played the role of the interviewer and asked Brady to give a quick scouting report on his quarterbacking skills.

Even back then, Brady knew he was slow.

"I think I need to work on my speed a little bit," Brady said, "but hopefully that will come in time."

Nope. Never did.

"My strengths? Well, everybody tells me that I have a pretty strong arm, which is good. I’m pretty accurate with it."

Brady, who ran a painfully slow 5.28 40-yard dash coming out of Michigan, also talked up his work ethic.

"I think I can get the job done," Brady said.

Can’t argue with him there, either.

Brady, now 39 with four Super Bowl MVPs on his resume, went from a Bay-area HS sensation to arguably the greatest quarterback in NFL history.
