Dustin Johnson

The defending champ has Tiger-like qualities in that every time he tees it up, he has a chance to win. He’s long, his mastery of the high cut with the driver has made him lethal off the tee, his iron play is great and he putts it well. Should be motivated to play; he and his fiancee, Paulina Gretzky, just welcomed their second child. The obvious favorite here.

Jordan Spieth

He has won a U.S. Open, will never give up and may be the best clutch putter in the world. My issue with Spieth is that he always seems to throw up a double, triple or the occasional quadruple bogey to derail his round.

Rory McIlroy

We love Rory’s game, don’t like the fact that he hasn’t played a competitive round in five weeks after injuring a rib.

Rickie Fowler

Think it might be his time. Already has a win (The Honda Classic), a recent T2 (The Memorial) and is third on tour in scoring average (69.4). Fourth-round 76 derailed his hopes at this year’s Masters.

Jon Rahm

Everyone loves the Spanish bull. He’s young, just 22, hits it a mile (305 avg. off the tee), is accurate (15th in greens in regulation) and is the next Euro superstar.

Sergio Garcia/Justin Rose

Sergio finally won his elusive first major, while defeating Rose in playoff at the Masters. Can either win their second major in Wisconsin?

Hideki Matsuyama

Was on everyone’s radar in fantasy and in the majors last year. Already racked up three wins this season. Complete player

Matt Kuchar

Love seeing Kuchar on the leaderboard just so we can scream KUUUUUUCH!!! at the TV. Has the makeup for a U.S. Open champ: Unflappable.

Pat Perez

The volatile Perez already has a win and a T2 at Wells Fargo. If he can keep his famous temper in check, would love to see the stuffed shirts at the USGA hand him the trophy Sunday.

Kevin Kisner

Has been a cash machine this year, with a win and five top 10s, although may be more the picture of a PGA Championship winner than a U.S. Open winner.

Others to consider for betting or in fantasy

Jason Dufner, Justin Thomas, Thomas Pieters, Kevin Chappell, Adam Hadwin, Jimmy Walker and Graeme McDowell.
