Sergio Garcia thinks it’s a nice day for a green wedding.
Following his big win at The Masters on Sunday, the professional golfer appeared on “The Today Show,” where he talked about his achievement and his future wedding ceremony.
Garcia, who is engaged to Angela Akins, was asked on the show if he’d wear the green jacket to his upcoming wedding.
“You’re not the first one to ask. We’ve been talking about it and it hasn’t been decided yet, but it’s a big possibility,” Garcia said.
While the idea of Garcia wearing the jacket and standing next to his fiancé in her white dress on their wedding day does seem ridiculous, the golfer did have to overcome years of disappointment to win his first major.
It’s been nearly two decades of no major wins, until Garcia rallied late to make up a two-shot deficit with six holes left Sunday.
He had a chance to win the tournament on the final hole but missed a putt that would’ve sealed The Masters for him. Fortunately for Garcia, he would win in sudden-death in a playoff over Justin Rose to get the victory.
Garcia has had to play in 73 majors in his career before he finally won one this past weekend.
