Lance Stephenson is back with the Pacers and back causing problems.
The 26-year-old forward returned to Indianapolis Tuesday night for his first game with the Pacers since 2014 and was in vintage form by ruffling a few feathers along the way.
With 3.3 seconds left and the Pacers up by 15, Stephenson cruised to the hoop for an easy layup to finish the night with 12 points.
The Raptors took exception to Stephenson’s stat padding as several players got into his face and started jawing with the Pacers forward.
Stephenson kept walking, ignoring the noise as his Pacers teammates came to his defense, separating him while some minor pushing ensued between the two teams as coaches and officials held players back.
Stephenson was waived by the New Orleans Pelicans in Novemeber and was given two separate ten-day contracts by the Timberwolves before signing a multi-year contract with the Pacers.
Stephenson has a reputation of getting under opposing players’ skin during games, particularly LeBron James, when he famously blew in the three-time NBA champions’ face during the 2013 Eastern Conference Finals.
The Pacers currently sit in the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference while the Raptors are third.
Indianapolis is 1.5 games behind the Atlanta Hawks for sixth, which would set up what would now be a quite intriguing Raptors-Pacers first round matchup.
