ESPN anchor Scott Van Pelt helps fund University of Maryland student-run sports radio station

Scott Van Pelt just helped out his alma mater in a major way.

The ESPN anchor was asked by a student on Twitter for a donation to the University of Maryland student-run sports radio station.

Van Pelt asked the student how much they needed and the student told him they were $1,255 short of their goal but would appreciate anything.

Van Pelt responded, “I got you. Playing golf now. Will cover this later. You’re funded.”

Van Pelt, who also grew up in Maryland, has made his affection for his school and its sports teams well known over the years he’s been on ESPN and SportsCenter.

Now he’s doing what he can to help future journalists get the opportunities to someday land on SportsCenter like him.
