Action News got the chance to surprise a local woman who has dedicated her life to helping others.

Our own Nydia Han made an unexpected stop Thursday at Montgomery County’s 911 call center to visit employee Sue Gardy.

6abc teamed up with Sony to spotlight a local hero.

On top of dispatching help to people across the county, Gardy helped found Hogs & Honeys, a non-profit dedicated to serving kids in need.

Next week, she’ll get the red carpet treatment including a private screening of ‘Spiderman: Homecoming.’

Gardy’s coworkers were on hand for the big surprise, as well as her husband Sam, who was more than happy to see his wife honored.
