Four-year-old Irish garda with leukemia marches in New York St Patrick's Day parade

CEEJAY MCARDLE IS a four-year-old boy from Castleblayney Co Monaghan and this weekend, he got to take part in New York’s St Patrick’s Day parade.

Ireland’s youngest garda, who has leukemia, was invited by the New York Police Department (NYPD) to take part in the parade, and was welcomed by the Emerald Society – the police and fire fighter’s division for members of Irish heriatge.

The trip was funded by a group of gardaí from home, who raised the funds to send Ceejay and his family to New York for the St Patrick’s Day festivities.

They’ve put together a beautiful video of Ceejay’s trip, which you can watch here.
